In fact, when we first saw Mandy Moore's impeccable renovation by the stunning Sarah Sherman Samuel, we all noticed her use of terrazzo - simply amazing ! If the name "Terrazzo" doesn't ring any bells, it's basically a composite material poured from small pieces of marble, quartz, granite and glass - illustrative fragments that create a unique look and style , you might remember the 70s.
So even though this is nothing new in the design world, it's exciting to see something wrap around and become the height of fashion. Now, we realize that not everyone is going to be in a rush to invest a lot of money in replacing floors, walls and countertops, especially something that may be gone soon. But luckily, we've put together a few different ways to use it in a home that won't break the bank. What is terrazzo? Terrazzo, a composite material in which marble chips are embedded in cement, originated in Italy in the 16th century as a way to reuse stone offcuts. It can be poured in place by hand or prefabricated into blocks that can be cut to size. You can also buy it as a ready-made tile that is easy to apply directly to floors and walls.
